We are thrilled to share some fantastic news about the future of Healthwatch Somerset.

Our funding has been extended until the end of March 2028, meaning we can continue to be the independent voice for people using health and social care services across Somerset.

As we are independent of these services our work is guided by what you tell us, not by the needs or plans of service providers.

This funding gives us the stability to keep listening to local people, sharing their experiences with decision-makers, and helping to improve health and social care services across the county.

It also means we can continue providing information, advice, and support to help people find their way through the health and care system.

The extension is welcome news for our team and for the communities we serve. Every year, thousands of people share their experiences with us, helping to shape services and influence change where it matters most.

Our host organisation, The Advocacy People, has also welcomed the decision and remains committed to supporting our work.

Stephen John, Head of Operations at The Advocacy People, said:

We are delighted that funding for Healthwatch Somerset has been extended until March 2028. This provides an important opportunity for Healthwatch Somerset to continue ensuring that local people have an independent voice in the development and improvement of health and social care services. We look forward to continuing to work with local communities, partners and decision-makers to ensure the experiences of Somerset residents help shape services for the future.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to making sure local people's voices are heard. We will continue to listen to your experiences, provide information and support, and work with services to help improve health and social care for everyone in Somerset.
